Ambiance provides background noise. Falling and melting water. Waves crashing on rocks, filling and draining tide pools. Crowds of cranes. The sound of a far-off French cafe in my earphones overdubbing the very real coffee shop around me.
Cow and calf moose in the yard, feasting on willows. All three of us survived a long, long winter.
